Tumblr or WordPress, Which Offers Best Blogging Platform?

tumblr wordpress Tumblr or WordPress, Which Offers Best Blogging Platform?

Blogs are personal journals that are published on the Internet. There are a lot of services that offer best blogging platforms. Bloggers generally generate revenue through ads and there are those who blog full time. When it comes to popularity, Tumblr and WordPress top the ranks. The two platforms are drastically different and depending on the needs, a blogger can choose one. Bloggers can also customize the layout of the page by changing colors, designs and even add custom widgets and HTML content.

Tumblr is a website that offers the best blogging platform for making microblogs and doubles as a social networking site. Tumblr is easier and fun to use but there is very little room for customization. It is powered by an open source blogging application which is user friendly. Tumblr can be easily accessed through smartphones. In 2009, Tumblr acquired Tumblerette, an iPhone application and released an official app that hit the iTunes Store. In 2010, Tumblr application for BlackBerry smart phones was made available through BlackBerry App World. If the blogger is not familiar with CSS and HTML formatting or for that matter any technical aspect of web design, he or she can resent to Tumble and concentrate on writing content for the blog, rather than setting up the page. For people who are into search engine optimization, Tumblr is the best resource for building high authority links for the blog posts. If blogging is not ones full time job or it the blogger is not keen on generating ad revenues, then Tumblr is the ideal choice.

WordPress on the other hand is highly customizable and there is a huge community that generates addons, plugins and themes for the page. WordPress is ideal for people who are into search engine optimization. It gives the blogger complete control over the posts including meta tag, URL and theme structure edits. WordPress has self hosting as well as other hosting services. Professional bloggers worldwide seem to prefer WordPress because of the flexibility that it offers. It also has the reputation of providing a solid platform for all kinds of blogs, especially for SEO professionals. WordPress also has domain name registration services. Bloggers don’t have to code a website from scratch and instead use the open source WordPress tool to post contents.

In short, for beginners and bloggers who are not looking to make money, Tumblr would be an ideal choice. On the other hand, bloggers who have a good knowledge about web designing and those who want complete control over the content would love WordPress.
