Hostgator sold : 3 Alternatives to Hostagor Hosting
Hostgator hosting has been the best, since a very long time.I hope that it continues to be the best for the coming years. But recently i came to know that hostgator has been bought by EIG group for some $225 million and Brent Oxley is CEO no more.
So what next? Ok many don’t know about EIG – Its a group of hosting companies and comprises of many hosting services such as Fatcow, iPage, Bluehost and a dozen more.EIG has surely hit the bulls eye by acquiring hostgator, owing to the fact that hostgator has a strong market presence and customer base as well. But,still the question remains as what next?
Next, its probably going to be like EIG transferring all the accounts to its locations (data centers) but moving files across data centers can get at times really a mess for customers as there is a very big risk involved of loosing the data while the transfer takes place.Though, there is care taken but no one can guarantee anything.
About the support,i think it can get better or worse, there won’t be a compromise between the two. However, the current hostgator support is really great and i hope EIG don’t trash the current customer support team of hostgator.
Are you planning to buy hosting now ?
If you are one of those who has heard of hostgator in the past or by friends and are looking forward to buy hosting from them, then you should probably wait a bit say 2 months or you may try the 3 alternatives below :
Bluehost : Ask most people about hosting choice and they will say if not hostgator, then either bluehost or dreamhost.Well, this hosting companies are elite part of EIG group and they have been the major competition to hostgator in the recent years.Bluehost is a good hosting service, minimum downtime and excellent customer support service.
Dreamhost : This is another hosting company that has done a tremendous job in the recent few years.I myself host a couple of sites with them and the support i get is awesome.
Bigrock : Bigrock is another very good hosting provider and a reliable one.Though, bigrock is a domain registrar but at the same time it provides a very good support for hosting as well. The downtime is negligible with bigrock.
